Mike and Sue Carnie promise you a very warm welcome at Powys Country House. As a family run guest house, we take much pride  for providing comfortable accommodation in a friendly, informal atmosphere. We are always on hand to welcome you personally on your arrival and to insure that your stay with us is happy and memorable.

Powys Country House, we provide spacious, attractively-furnished and comfortable bedrooms, each with their own en-suite bathroom, colour TV and hair dryer. Tea and coffee-making facilities are provided in the bedrooms, although you will be greeted with a welcoming drink on arrival. A cosy beamed lounge is available for residents use with colour TV.

A hearty traditional breakfast is on offer to start your day, although we are happy to provide an alternative menu if you prefer. Delicious home-cooked evening meals are available on request and packed lunches can be provided, leaving you free to enjoy each day to the maximum. With prior notice, we will gladly cater for special diets. Our table licence enables  us to serve drinks during dinner and we have a comprehensive list of wines to enhance your meal.

The three acres of gardens include a grass tennis court which you are invited to use during the summer months and an ornate fountain centres a large patio area with garden furniture where guests can unwind.

Our splendid location is ideal for walkers, whether you enjoy a quiet stroll through lovely gardens and along the river bank, or perhaps a more strenuous uphill climb with the reward of the fabulous views across the Clwydian. range and the Berwyn mountains.

Powys Country House is now classified as 3 Star accommodation by the Wales Tourist Board and has achieved the ‘Highly Commended’ grading. We also hold the Rural Farm and Guest House award and the AA rating is 4 Diamond selected.

The drive from Corwen to Llangollen offers some of the most beautiful scenery in North Wales. Hidden wonders’ are to be found along, the narrow country lanes and almost everywhere you will hear the sound of running water through the mountain streams. Park the car and look down toward the river from the mountain road. Journey only a few miles and you are in the Snowdonia National Park. 

Drive to the famous Horseshoe Pass at Llangollen or to World’s End for  breathtaking views. The North and West coastlines are but an hour’s drive away. Corwen offers an ideal central base for any holiday in North Wales. Whether you prefer just to relax and take in the wonder of the countryside or wish to head for more organised attractions, everywhere is within easy reach. For the sporting enthusiast, Corwen offers a swimming pool, tennis and squash courts, horseriding, fishing and canoeing nearby - in fact, everything you could wish to do!
