Ty'n
y Wern , (which means 'House in the Meadow'), is just outside the
picturesque market town of Llangollen, set in some of the most beautiful
and spectacular scenery in North Wales. There is ample parking space for
cars in the private grounds and secure covered parking for motorcycles or
bicycles.
The building dates back to 1730, when it was built and owned by Ty'ndwr
Hall and used as a tied farm cottage and ten acre small holding by the
workers on the estate. Its use, exclusively as a farm house continued
until 1904, when, with its proximity to the ancient London to Holyhead
thoroughfare, it began to offer travellers rest and guest house
facilities.
Over the next 70 years, its popularity - and number of guests - increased,
so that in 1974 farm work finally ceased, and the 'House in the Meadow'
became the fully licensed Ty'n y Wern Hotel.
The traveller, en-route to destinations further into North Wales, or
touring this beautiful area may experience the restful charm of the old
farm house combined with the highest standards of modern comfort. All
modernisation has been completed with taste and sympathetic regard to the
character and atmosphere of the old Building to give each guest the best
of both worlds.
The present owners, Chris and Ernie Tomlinson, have continued the
progressive improvements to both quality and facilities
We have a range of single, twin, double and family rooms, all of which are
tastefully decorated and equipped to the same high standard, having fully
en-suite bathrooms with bath and/or shower. All have remote control colour
television (some with tele-text), clock/alarm radio with CD player, direct
dial telephone and tea/coffee making facilities. All rooms have
individually controlled central heating radiators. Ironing facilities and
trouser-press are available.
Breakfast and evening meals are served in the Guest Dining-room, which is
a comfortable, spacious room used exclusively for residents of the Hotel.
Leading off the guest dining-room is the first of two Lounges, which is
also for the exclusive use of Hotel residents. A very comfortable room
where you can relax and enjoy the view across the valley with Castell
Dinas Bran high up on the hillside opposite the Hotel.
